The Singing Studio

For 21 years, Laura Halick has trained hundreds of singers of all ages—from beginners to professionals. Laura teaches in her home studio in Fairfax, Virginia. Pop, folk, jazz, rock, country, and gospel are styles she coaches. Musical theatre and classical, however, are her specialties. She formally trained and performed in both genres.

In musical theatre, Laura is particularly skilled at selecting repertoire, arranging audition cuts, prepping for auditions and coaching diction in foreign languages. Currently Laura is the musical theatre vocal coach at Center Stage for Dance in Fairfax. Previously, she was the vocal coach at the Professional Musical Theatre and Actors Studio at Fairfax Academy for Communication and the Arts and at Annandale High School for their mainstage musicals. Laura taught applied voice at Northern Virginia Community College and chorus at Bishop O’Connell High School.

In 2001, Laura graduated with her Master of Music in vocal performance from The Catholic University of America. A full lyric soprano, she trained with Jeannette LoVetri, Carla Rae Cook and Elizabeth Daniels. She has given several solo recitals, performed leading roles in musical theatre and opera productions, and sung with many choral groups. Laura is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association, & the Somatic Voicework™ Teachers Association.
