Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit
Performing in public can give singers an incomparable experience & a welcome surge of confidence. And so twice a year, I plan, organize & direct studio concerts with my students singing in many styles.
The only way to get better at performing in public is to do more of it. To that end, I encourage and prepare my students to perform outside the studio as often as possible.
My next studio concert will be in the fall of 2022.

Singing competitions are wonderful opportunities for singers to perform in front of a judging panel. Experts in the voice give scores and comments to each competing singer.
Participants must meet certain criteria for each event and pay related fees. Results are announced or posted the same day, depending on each competition's structure. In each event, a score of 90-100 earns an Honors/Honorable Mention rating. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place monetary awards are given in each category.
During the 2022 academic year, my studio is competing in three events.
2022 NVMTA Musical Theatre Competition will take place on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Grouped by age, students sing cuts of musical theatre repertoire. The competition gives students experience and preparation for the theatre industry’s audition process at every level: middle school, high school, the college audition circuit, and professional shows.
The National Association of Teachers of Singing Virginia State Conference & Adjudications will take place on February 24 & 25, 2023 at Old Dominion University. Singers may compete in classical and/or musical theatre categories, grouped by age and gender. Recently several changes were implemented to be more inclusive for gender and to reflect current trends in musical theatre.
The NVMTA Voice Achievement Awards will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Students compete in classical singing and are grouped by age.
